It also prevents water absorption making it ideal for working in wet environments.

EN 14404:2004+A1:2010

This European Standard specifies the requirements for knee protectors type 1 and type 2. Type2 being inserts and type 1 being strap knee pads. The level of protection it offers ranges from a level 0 to a level 2. Level 2 offering the greatest protection.
